Obituary of Timothy Wayne Smith
Timothy Wayne Smith, 57, of Lexington, SC passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 peacefully at MUSC hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. He is the son of Fay Smith of Lexington, SC and his predeceased father Floyd Smith, Jr.
Timothy grew up as an avid sportsman hunting, fishing, trapping, and riding anything motorized in his hometown of Geneva, IN. Upon moving to South Carolina, he found a love of water and sunshine. He could be found most Saturdays spending time with his friends and family riding jet skis at Lake Murray and across the state. He became an avid Carolina Gamecock fan and continued his loyalty to the Chicago Bears on TV. He loved his family and friends deeply and would do anything to support them.
He is survived by his son, Brandon Smith; step children, Nicholas Johnson and Lacey Mungo; sisters, Laurice (Barry) Mears and Kimberly Whyde; nieces, Lexi Whyde, Danika Whyde, and Charley (Valerian) Mears; nephew, Joshua Mears; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Timothy is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. Oscar and Flora Belle Cummings of Lumberton, NC; paternal grandparents, Floyd, Sr. and Elmira Smith of Rockford, IL; as well as a younger brother, Mark Smith at age 17..
Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Mt. Horeb Church with visitation 10:00-10:45 followed by a service at 11:00 in the sanctuary. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Mt. Horeb cemetery.
