Obituary of Betty Hollis

Betty Roberta Hollis, 89, went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2018, around 12 noon at Pinedale Residential Center, Camden, SC. Born in Old Hickory, TN, on Feb 16, 1929, Betty was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend; an incredible cook; and delightful host. She loved being surrounded by and cooking for her family and playing card games and Scrabble. She always enjoyed music and dancing, especially with her family. She was a faithful member of Capital City Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for many years. Betty was employed at Shakespeare Company and Hobart Sales and Services until she retired. She enjoyed volunteering at the Palmetto Baptist Medical Center after she retired. In every walk of life, she served faithfully.

 

Betty is predeceased by her husband, James Eugene Hollis (US Army Retired); her siblings, Winifred Cain, Dorothy Morgan, and Norman Jordan; her son, Paul Norman Hollis; and grandson, Joseph Aaron Hollis. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her sons, Richard (Blair) Hollis, Gary (Dorothy) Hollis, Carl (Karen) Hollis, and Danny (Cathy) Hollis; daughter-in-law Deanne' Hollis; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
