Obituary of Mary M. Tate

Mary M. Tate, 81, of Elgin, South Carolina passed away May 1, 2018 at her home in Elgin, South Carolina. She was born on September 2, 1936 in Richland County, South Carolina to the late Shelton and Maggie Brazzell Starling. She was strong in her Christian faith and was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by her children, Donna Rothenberger, Kathy Moak (Jimmy), Ernie Branham (Sandra); nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her

She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, John B. Tate; three sisters and one brother.

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Funeral services will follow the family visitation in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park following the chapel service.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
