Obituary of Edward Kelly

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Edward I. Kelly, 82, of Blythewood, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010, at Park Street Baptist Church, and the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Sam Catoe. Burial will follow in the Kelly Family Cemetery on Kathwood Drive. Honorary pallbearers will be the E.C. Gayle Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eagles Club at Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park St., Columbia, SC 29201. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Mr. Kelly died Monday, September 13, 2010. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late James H. and Mattie Augustine Kelly. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church, a deacon, secretary of E.C. Gayle Sunday School Class and chairman of the Eagles Club. Mr. Kelly was body shop manager at Hampton Pontiac in Columbia for many years and retired from S.C. Electric and Gas, Wateree Plant. He was a Mason and Shriner, and formerly a member of Jamil Temple. Surviving are his wife, Nadine B. Kelly of Blythewood; daughter, Shelley Kelly of Winnsboro, Salley K. Bagley (Dennis) of Elgin; sons, Edward Gene Kelly of Winnsboro, Paul S. Kelly (Linda) of West Columbia, and James B. Kelly (Deborah) of Irmo; granddaughters, April Kelly (Will Chapman), Amanda Kelly, Jena K. Breedlove (Cory), all of West Columbia, and Dana Kelly (Bruce Davis) of Columbia. Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by brothers, Deal J. Kelly, Clyde Kelly, Robert H.
