Obituary of William Ellison

CAYCE - Funeral services for William Fred Ellison, 87, of Cayce, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010 at State Street Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Tommy Pillow and Rev. Rodolph Dixon. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Saturday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to State Street Baptist Church or Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 1420 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033.Mr. Ellison, beloved husband of 64 years of Geraldine B. Ellison passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010. Born in Cayce, he was the son of the late Fred P. Ellison and Willie Seibert Ellison. He was a lifetime area resident and a member of State Street Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII in the European Theatre receiving four Bronze Stars. Mr. Ellison retired from the U.S. Postal service after many years of loyal service.Surviving in addition to his wife Geraldine B. Ellison; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Martin (Hugh) and his grandson, Greg Martin; sister, Elizabeth Martin all of Cayce along with a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.The family would like to thank Dr. Ruben Mayer, staff of 8th floor Palmetto Baptist Hospital and Hospice staff and Bertie Altman, Kathy Vaughn for their loving care during the past few weeks.
