Carol Rose WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Carol Rose, 69, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Pastor Tracy McGee and Rev. Jack Kyzer. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Suburban Baptist Church, PO Box 2742, West Columbia, SC 29170. Mrs. Rose, beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Rose, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011. Born in Indian Head, PA, she was the daughter of Mildred Critchfield Grimm and the late Raymond Donald Grimm. She grew up in Indian Head, PA., a former resident of Moon Township, PA and Dade County, FL. She had been a resident of West Columbia for the past 20 years. Mrs. Rose was a renowned teacher's aide and taught special needs children in Dade County, Florida public schools until retirement. She was an accomplished pianist and served as a pianist for The Crusaders Southern Gospel Group and the TriCities Music Makers in West Columbia. She was a faithful member of Suburban Baptist Church, where she played the keyboard. Mrs. Rose was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Surviving in addition to her husband of 51 years, Robert "Bob" Rose of West Columbia; daughter, Robin Schlegel (Tom) of Port Orange, FL; sons, Bobby Rose of West Columbia and Christopher Rose (Emily) of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Abigail Driggers, Robert Schlegel and Andrew Rose; one great-grandchild, Dacey Driggers; sisters, Doris Mankamyer of Rising Sun, Indiana and Marsha Yonai of Indian Head, PA; and a brother, Raymond "Dale" Grimm of Morgantown, WV.
