Obituary of Eloise Corbett Hiott

Eloise Hiott CAYCE- Mrs. Eloise Bingham Corbett Hiott, 92, widow of William "Bill" Benjamin Hiott to whom she was happily married for 64 years, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at National Health Care in West Columbia. She was born in Aiken County on March 25, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Leroy and Essie Kennerly Corbett. For many years she made her home with her aunt and uncle, Gary and Bingham Corbett. Eloise was a longtime member of Cayce United Methodist Church. She completed her musical studies at LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA, presenting her senior recital at the end of her junior year. She taught school in Athens and Watkinsville, GA. She later resided in Columbus, GA and North Augusta, SC before moving to Cayce for the remainder of her life. Eloise taught music for many years at Rice Music House and in her home. Her passions were her family, music, gardening and caring for others. She was avid Clemson Fan. She was a member of DAR and the Wednesday Bridge Club. Her family was her heart. Surviving are her daughters, Carole Ann Coggins (Harold) and Nancy Cully Able (John) all of West Columbia; four grandchildren, Michael Coggins (Selena) of Lexington, Mark Coggins (Meg) of Blythewood, Brennen Cully of West Columbia, Bryan Cully (Meredith) of Lexington; and eight great-grandchildren, Emily Cross-Cully, Lakin and Lauren Coggins, Hensley and Mary Addison Coggins, and Anna, Caroline, and Catherine Cully. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Services for Elosie will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Cayce United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Henderson and Rev. Susan Culler. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
