Obituary of Joe Warren

Joe O. Warren WEST COLUMBIA—Joe O. Warren, went to be with his Lord and wife of 72 years on Saturday, April 23, 2011. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Rev. Elton Dunbar. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 800 North Lee Street, Leesville, SC 29070. He was born in Batesburg, SC and was the son of the late Arthur B. "A.B." Warren and Lettie B. Warren. He was a lifetime area resident and a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. He retired in 1981 from the South Carolina State Sales Tax Commission, with 40 years of dedicated service, serving under Governor Burnet Rhett Maybank, Governor J. Emil Harley, Governor R.M. Jeffries and Governor Olin Johnson. He was a member of the South Carolina State Employees Association. He was an avid fisherman, liked hunting, enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family. He was affectionately known as "Granddaddy" to his loving grandchildren. He loved his Lord and family and will be missed dearly. Surviving are his son, Joseph R. "Dickie" Warren and his wife, Anna of West Columbia; grandchildren, Chad (Michelle) Warren and Westley (Jennifer) Warren and great -grandchildren; and a special former daughter-in-law, Pandra Lemrow (Craig).
