Obituary of Edward Smith

Edward O. (Eddie) Smith, Jr. SOUTH CONGAREE: Funeral services for Edward O. "Eddie", "Puddin" Smith, Jr., 44, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Faith Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Tommy Lineberger and Rev. Everette Price. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Tynes, Craig Steele, Buddy Frye, Brent Oliver, Webb Belangia, Rodger Steele, Jr., Brett Tynes and Adam Steele. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie's friends, classmates and former work associates. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this (Wednesday) evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Faith Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 3228, West Columbia, SC 29171. Eddie passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of Edward O. "Butch" Smith and Sandra S. Smith. He was a graduate of Airport High School; and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was an avid hunter, an electrician and for the last year had been hauling boats for Stan Rogers. Surviving are his parents, Edward O. "Butch" Smith and Sandra S. Smith of West Columbia; maternal grandmother, "Nana" Ellen W. Steele of West Columbia; aunts and uncles, Marion F. Steele, Jr. (Gloria), Rodger A. Steele (Karen), Michael W. "Mike" Steele (Joan) and Jon Headley (Judy); fiancée, Gloria Rogers of South Congaree; numerous cousins and friends and his two beloved dogs, Smokey and Bandit.
