Obituary of Emma Kesner

Emma Jean Kesner LEXINGTON: Funeral services for Emma Jean Kesner, 65, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Northside Baptist Church in West Columbia, officiated by Rev. Steve Cloud and assisted by Rev. Rocky Purvis, Rev. Lonnie Shull, and Rev. Steve Allen. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Thompson, Steve Haley, Don Day, Bill Heckle, Carroll Triplett, Larry Kea, and Richard Kester. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Brown, Don Lemmons, Bruce Cook, and the Vessels of Life Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lexington Baptist Association Mission Fund, 255 Two Notch Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Jean, who was married to Wayne Kesner for 43 years, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Born in Bristol, TN, she was the daughter of the late James Jones and Katherine Johnson Jones. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church for over 34 years where she taught in the children's division for many of those years. She recently retired from Lexington District Two schools with twenty years of service and most recently as the Computer Lab Manager at Congaree Elementary School. Survivors are her loving husband, Wayne Kesner of Lexington, son, Michael Kesner of Gilbert, and mother-in-law, Jessie Ruth Hopkins of Lexington.
