Obituary of Helene Sharpe

GASTON—Funeral services for Helene Lucas Sharpe, 93, of Gaston, will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Randy Lucas, Rev. Dan Gardner and Rev. Steve Peterson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Sharpe's nephews and honorary pallbearers will be the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church choir. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mrs. Sharpe, widow of Vernon Vasper Sharpe, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Born in Gaston, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Daniel Lucas and Mae Anna Goodwin Lucas. She was a lifelong area resident and a charter member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. She was retired from Stone Manufacturing where she worked as a garment machine operator. Surviving Mrs. Sharpe are her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Diane Sharpe, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Corder, and brothers, Claude Lucas, Sr., Jerod Lucas, Lester Lucas, Otis Lucas and C.D. Lucas. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Sharpe's honor to Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 4625 Highway 321, Gaston, SC 29053.
