Virginia Lou Wynn Nelson CAYCE: A homecoming service celebrating the life of Virginia Lou Wynn Nelson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2011, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Burial will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and family from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, on Augusta Road. Virginia passed on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She will be remembered for her big warm smile she shared with others and a tender heart. She loved being Mema to her grandchildren and their friends. Born August 18, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Julius Alan and Dorothy Virginia Wynn. Surviving are her husband, Walter Wesley, a daughter, Teri Colley (Jerry) of West Columbia, grandson, Shawn Colley (Charlse) and two great grandsons, Devin and Austin of West Columbia; step-children, Keith Nelson (Maxine) of Newberry, Mike Nelson of Lexington, Donna Lever (Mark) of Newberry; step-grandchildren, Britany Nelson of Lexington, Lindsay Lever of Gaston, Whitney Lever of Newberry, and Michelle Nelson of Washington; step-great grandson, Tristan Nelson; sister, Betty Marie Wynn of West Columbia; brother, Julius Earl Wynn of Cayce and a host of other loving relatives and friends; also her puppy, Buddy. Mrs. Nelson was predeceased by a brother, Mickey Wynn, two nephews and a niece. The family would like to thank Dr. Asheesh Lal, Lexington Oncology and the 8th floor Oncology of Lexington Medical Center. Also for their care and compassion, Heartstrings Hospice, during the short time they took care of our loved one.
