Obituary of Allen Leroy Skinner

Allen "Roy" Leroy Skinner GASTON: Services for Allen Leroy "Roy" Skinner, 84, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2011, in the First Baptist Church of Gaston. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Mr. Skinner went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Born in Shiloh, SC, he was a son of the late Raymond Pinckney Skinner and Frances Louise Turbeville Skinner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gaston where he was also a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII; he was a member of the SC Letterman's Association, Block C Club and the Sumter Hall of Fame. Mr. Skinner was retired from the S.C. Tax Commission. Surviving is his loving wife, Sarah Matthews Skinner; sons, Allen Skinner, Jr. (Vera) of Florence, David Skinner (Kathleen) of Rutherfordton, NC, Raymond Skinner (Janet) of Spartanburg and Franklin Skinner (Gail) of West Columbia; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
