Obituary of Doris Martin Nelson

Doris Ann Martin Nelson WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral services for Doris Ann Martin Nelson, 67, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Joel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin Rogerson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joel Baptist Church, 1165 Old Barnwell Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 or to Agape Hospice, 805 Buff Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Nelson died Thursday, August 18, 2011. Born in Marion County, SC, she the daughter of the late Leon and Rhoda Jackson Martin. She was a member of Joel Baptist Church and was employed with Hair & Nail Salon for 35 years. Surviving are her son, Richard Blake Nelson, Jr. of West Columbia; sister, Bonnie Harrelson; brothers, Eldridge Martin (Cathy) of Clearwater, FL, Jerry Martin (Eva) of Ridgeway, Harry Martin of Florence, Johnny Martin (Becky) of Anderson, Billy Martin (Jenelle) of Irmo and Laverne Martin (Doris) of Winston-Salem, NC; and special friend, Pam Golightly of West Columbia.
