Obituary of Dorothy Hoyle

Dorothy Hoyle GASTON—After a long illness, Dottie passed away to the arms of Jesus September 11, 2011. Born June 10, 1924 in Thomaston, GA. Dottie was the fourth child of Harper and Allie Hoyle. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. Known to all her family as Aunt Dottie, she is survived by her nieces Judy (Duke) Singleton and Linda (John) Longacre; her brother-in-law Quentin Cooper; nephews Jerry, Steve, and Bill Hayman; great-niece and nephews Julie Underwood, Roger and Chris Singleton; great-great-nieces and nephews Darcy, Todd and Carrie Sherer; Dallas, Taylor and Anna Grace Singleton; and great-great-great-niece Madelyn Sherer-Giles and their families. Last year she was blest to meet another part of her family, sisters Nettie Jo Perry and Dora Battle and niece Myra Morris. Through that meeting she also learned of brothers Joe and Johnny Hoyle and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Aunt Dottie was a Sunday School teacher of young girls at First Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, FL and was a self-employed hairdresser in St. Petersburg, FL for many years. In later years she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce and a valued associate of Tropic Aire Patio Gallery in the Santa's Closet division. Funeral services for Dottie will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Don Davis and Rev. Eddie Coakley. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Duke, Roger, Chris and Taylor Singleton, John Longacre, Todd Sherer and Randy Underwood. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington will be assisting the family. A special thank you to Kenya Howell, Gloria Wannamaker, Thelma Rhoden and SC Oncology Associates for caring for Aunt Dottie so well and for so long.
