Obituary of Leonard White

Leonard Royce White GASTON—Funeral services for Leonard Royce White, 87, of Gaston, will be held at 1 p.m. October 22, 2011 at Edmund First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Johnny Slice. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the United Neighbors of America Club. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. White, beloved husband of Isabell White, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 after an extended illness. Born in Troy, NC, he was the son of the late James White and Ettie Ann Aughtry White. He was retired from Loxcreen in Cayce, a former Sunday School Secretary and an ordained deacon. He was a member of Edmund First Baptist Church, in the Edmund community of Lexington County. Surviving Mr. White in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Helen McGrady of Columbia and Jayne Keen (Darl) of Nahunta, GA; a step-daughter, Brenda Gray (Earl) of Aiken; a step-son, Thurmond Bodie of Swansea; 3 grandsons, Chris White of West Columbia, Timmy McGrady (Linda) of Lexington and James McGrady of Columbia; He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois E. Smith White and a son-in-law, James "Snake" McGrady. Memorials may be made in Mr. White's honor to Trinity Hospice of Aiken, 233 Woodward Drive, Aiken, SC 29803.
