Obituary of Mary Granny Stroman

Mary Shivers "Granny" Stroman GASTON: Graveside service for Mary Shivers "Granny" Stroman, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at White House Methodist Church Cemetery, Orangeburg, SC. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mrs. Stroman, widow of Zachariah Edward Stroman, died at the home of her grandson, Tommy and his wife, Meredith Stroman, Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Born in Gaston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo Shivers and Clara Moorer Shivers. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Gaston Congregation. Mrs. Stroman was retired from Horsman Dolls. She was a beloved mother and grandmother; and the rock that her family leaned on. She will be deeply missed but will live on in our hearts and never be forgotten. Surviving are: daughters, Janie S. Angel of Lexington, Agnes S. Sigh (John) of Gaston; sons, Thomas Stroman of Gaston and Cody Stroman and special friend, Bruce Sanders of Columbia; brothers, Davis Shivers of St. Augustine, FL and Erskine Shivers of Gaston; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Stroman was preceded in death by her brother, William Shivers; sisters, Hilda Goodwin, Annie Chavis and Dorothy Crowe; daughter, Kadette S. Spires; son, Zachariah "Little Zack" Stroman; and granddaughter, Debbie S. Dangerfield.
