Obituary of Virginia Jeanes

LEXINGTON - A graveside service for Virginia Reynolds Jeanes, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010, in Woodridge Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Richard Wilson. The family will receive friends following service in the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church Youth Fund, 3520 Mineral Springs Road, Lexington, SC 29073 or to the Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor St., Columbia, SC 29201. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.Mrs. Jeanes, widow of Mendel C. Jeanes, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Born in Richmond, VA, she was a daughter of the late Melvin R. and Virginia L. Reynolds. She was a veteran of WW II, having served in General Eisenhower""'s Headquarters (SHAEF) in France. Mrs. Jeanes was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Lexington Medical Center for 20 years.Surviving are her daughters, Kitty A. Sheorn (Lee) of Camden, and Penny J. Thomas (Ronny) of Lexington; granddaughter, Becky T. Scott (Bobby) of West Columbia; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Rebecca Scott.
