WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Miriam Cromer Brown, 81, of West Columbia, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at First Baptist Church of West Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Lonnie H. Shull, Jr. and Dr. Bill Drees. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Mrs. Brown will be placed in the church at 12 noon. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Thompson Funeral Home in West Columbia. Brown, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late John Andrew Cromer, Sr. and Amzy Mae Rodgers Cromer. During her younger years at Monetta High School she was on the girl""'s basketball team, known for winning the State Championship one year. While raising her 5 children, she helped her husband at Brown""'s Cash Grocery in West Columbia. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia since 1946. Prior to her health declining, she was active in one of the Ladies Adult Sunday School Classes.Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Angela B. Willis (Steve) of Monetta; sons, Lewis Brown (Hattie) of St. Matthews, Rev. Nathan J. Brown (Barbara) of Cayce, Jeff Brown (Tram) of Aiken and Anthony Brown (Cathy) of Cayce; fourteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cassie Mae Foley (W.M.) of Ridge Spring and Jackie Stone (Frank) of Monetta; brothers, John """J.A.""" Cromer, Jr. (Iredell) of Aiken, Thurmond Cromer (Annie Lou) of Monetta and Brunson Luzon Cromer (Cassina) of Aiken along with many nieces and nephews.
