Obituary of Fred Boyd

WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Fred Howard Boyd, 92, will be held at 3pm Friday, August 20, 2010, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.Mr. Boyd died Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Born in Dallas, TX, he was a son of the late Charles Newton Boyd and Maudie Cybil Lewis Boyd. He retired from the Veterans Administration after a highly distinguished 39 years. At one point he was selected as the country""'s top personnel officer. After retirement, he worked diligently as a service officer with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.Surviving is his son, Parris Allen Boyd of West Columbia.
