Obituary of Thyra Berry

CAYCE - Thyra Jeffcoat Berry, 86, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born December 13, 1923, in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Daniel Addison and Lottie Mae Crout Jeffcoat. She was a longstanding member of Broadacres Baptist Church and had retired from Columbia Pacific Mills.Thyra enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and caring for her family. She was affectionately called "Granny Berry" by many and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Broadacres Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. William Geddings. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Broadacres Baptist Church Building Fund, 2350 Taylor Road, Cayce, SC 29033.Mrs. Berry is survived by her children, Phyllis Livingood (Dale) of Savannah, GA, Larry Berry (Debbie) of Cayce; four grandchildren, Kevin Berry (Sharon) of Lexington, Kelli Carter (John) of Vacaville, CA, Todd Livingood (Caroline) of Savannah and Scott Livingood (Renee) of Savannah; seven great-grandchildren in addition to one who is expected any day; and sister, Edith Kendall of West Columbia.She was preceded in death by her husband, James T.
