Obituary of Maude Blaylock

LEXINGTON - A memorial service for Maude A. Blaylock, 88, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Dr. Alan Adams. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Ste. 100, West Columbia, SC 29169; or to the Green Hill Baptist Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 6276, West Columbia, SC 29169. Ms. Blaylock died Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Born in Gaston, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Fred Lucas and Etta Sharpe Lucas. She touched many friends through her decades of work at Tapp""'s Department Store. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Crews Pointe for their love and compassionate care. Surviving is her son, Lane Blaylock; brother, James A. Lucas (Mary); three grandchildren, Kerry Dowd, Jaime Gilmore and Skylar Gilmore; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Barrow and Lennon Barrow. Ms. Blaylock was preceded in death by sons, Dr. James Dowd and Ralph Blaylock Jr.; brothers, Elzie, Otis """Doc""" and Perry Lucas; sisters, Gladys Hutto, Lennie Sightler and Velma Rish.
