Obituary of Mary Croxton

Mary Lou Spearman Croxton, widow of Richard R. Croxton, died January 16, 2012. She was born March 25, 1916 in Martin, Georgia to George Ansel Spearman and Clara Blanche Spearman as the eldest of five children. She graduated from Columbia High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of South Carolina in 1938. She taught at Irmo High School, Draughon?s Business College and was the head of the English Department at Palmer College. She completed her esteemed professional career as a professor at Midlands Technical College, where she helped write the original business administration curriculum. She served as the President of the American Association of University Women from 1984-1985. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Spearman, sister-in-law Alice Spearman, many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, caring friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her siblings Louise Lawson, Bill Spearman and Sara Fairley. Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
