Obituary of Miyoko Gibson

A memorial service for Miyoko Peggy Marumo Gibson, 83, of Lexington will be held at 12:00P.M. on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Miyoko's ashes will remain at rest with her husband, Robert, in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements. Miyoko passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was born on March 3, 1927 in Osaka, Japan. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson started and owned the Oriental Market in Augusta, GA in 1962. After moving to Columbia, SC in 1967 they opened two IHOP restaurants as well as creating many other entrepreneurial successes during their lives together in the Columbia, SC area. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Gibson, Jr. Miyoko is survived by her three daughters, Linda A.Gibson McCullough, Bobbie Sue Gibson (Horace Wayne) Connor, and Patricia L. Gibson Blizzard; two loving grandchildren, Samantha E. Blizzard and Brandon Wayne Connor; and two nephews in Osaka, Japan: Dewa mata ne, Okaasan, Obaasan.
