Obituary of Mildred Lindsay

A funeral service celebrating the life and legacy of Mildred Ruth Bowden Lindsay, 68, of Columbia will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at New Light Beulah Baptist Church, 1330 Congaree Road, Hopkins, SC 29061 with Reverend Gregory B. Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Friday evening at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Lindsay departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 14, 2011. She was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Curtis Seldon and Felomon L. Kylow Taylor. Mildred was a 1961 Alumni of Spencer High School in Columbus, Georgia. She was a member of New Light Beulah Baptist Church in Hopkins, South Carolina, Order of the Eastern Star #95, Dayton, Ohio and the Daughter of Isis. Mildred retired as a Registered Nurse after many years of dedicated service. Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Archie Lee Lindsay; three daughters, Jacqueline Williams, Alicia Marvett Cunningham, and Keisha (Lamar Hollis) Taylor; three sisters, Helen (Charlie) Williams, Lorraine (Jimmy) Edmonds, and Victoria Taylor-(Walter) Jackson; seven brothers, Joseph (Mary) Seldon, Herman (Catherine) Bowden, Gerald Bowden, Bernard (Loretta) Taylor, Cortez (Doris) Taylor, Jr., Melvin Taylor, Sr. and Larry (Brenda) Seldon; five grandchildren, India , Trey, Lindsay, Reagan, and Tahlia; one great-grandchild, Zealan; a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
