Obituary of Janelle Posey Byrd

Janelle Gertrude Posey Byrd COLUMBIA, SC-- Mrs. Janelle Gertrude Posey Byrd, widow of Mr. Jack Heaton Byrd, departed this Earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 31, 2010. Born in Chapin SC, June 12, 1925, she was 85 years old. Daughter of the late K. Amos Posey and Martha Agnes Posey. She had two brothers, the late Howard and late Ferrell Posey; and one sister, Mary Ann Posey of Springdale. Long time member of Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, she raised a beautiful family consisting of, Jacqueline Janelle Byrd Champion, husband Bob of Spartanburg, the late Jack Heaton Byrd, Jr., William Amos Byrd, Sr. wife Emily, and Gary Stephen Byrd wife Jody, both of Columbia; five granddaughters, Kristen Klein, Lauren, and Morgan Champion, Candice and Nicole Byrd; and two grandsons, William, Jr., and Kirby Byrd. All of her children and grandchildren attended College. She graduated BC High School in 1943 attended Columbia Business College and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Society. While working at Roof Hardware in Columbia, Janelle met her true love Jack Byrd, a returning World War 2 Combat Vet working just across Main St. They lived a lifetime love affair and 40-year marriage, which is now eternal. Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2010, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, State St., Cayce at 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, Devine St. at 11:00 AM, and Internment at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hwy 1, Lexington.
