Obituary of Gerald William McDaniel

A graveside service celebrating the life of Gerald ?Mac? William McDaniel, 79, of Columbia will be held at 10a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 in Greenlawn Memorial Park with full military honors to follow. The family will receive friends from 9a.m. until the hour of the service on Friday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one?s choice in Gerald?s memory. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements. Gerald departed this earthly life on Tuesday morning, September 21, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Petersburg, Illinois to the late Andrew Ray McDaniel and Fannie Belle Raikes. Mr. McDaniel retired from the United States Army as Sergeant Major after 20 years of dedicated services to our country. After, retirement from the United States Army, he then was assigned to the Adjutant Generals Corp. Mr. McDaniel further served as a Retirement Services Officer at Fort Jackson Army Base in which he later retired. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Kim M. McDaniel; two daughters and son-in-laws, Nancy and Mike Miller, Brenda and Marc Meyer; two grandchildren, Lucas and Rachel; three siblings, Robert McDaniel, Carol Haynes, and Lois White; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
