Obituary of Siria Otero

Funeral services for Mrs. Siria O. Otero, 85, widow of the late Dr. Carlos A. Otero, will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3pm until the hour of the service at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Otero passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010. She was born June 18, 1925 in Havana, Cuba to the late José Ortega and Rosa Vierra Ortega. Mrs. Otero came to the United States in 1959, and was a nurse in Chicago for several years. She had been a resident of Columbia for the last 42 years. Mrs. Otero was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was blessed with a special group of friends, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of St. Peter?s Catholic Church. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rosa B. Otero-Creech and husband Ted Creech; her three grandchildren, Blase, Griffin, and Dylan; her brother, Raimundo Capote of Cuba; and two nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband of 30 years; and a sister, Josefina Reyes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials should be made to St. Peter?s Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly St. Columbia, SC 29201.
