Services for William Benjamin Thomasson, Jr., 79, of Columbia, SC, will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC on Wednesday Dec 1, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30th 2010 from 6:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. William Benjamin Thomasson, Jr was born on June 21st, 1931 in Greenville, SC to Floy Eloise Fisher Thomasson and W.B. Thomasson Sr. They moved to Columbia when Bill was about 2 yrs old. At the age of 9, Bill dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized it by water immersion. For years he served as Congregation Coordinator for Jehovah?s Witnesses in 5 different congregations spanning 57 yrs. Bill Thomasson was married to Jessie Lee Richter Thomasson for 57 yrs. They were married in her hometown of Augusta Georgia, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses on January 9th 1954. On January 20th, 1959, William Richard (Dickie) Thomasson was born. On September 3rd, 1961, Francel Lee was born and died the same day. (Interred Greenlawn Baby Land). On October 12, 1962, Judith Eloise was born. Bill headed up the Heating and Air Conditioning Department for the Regional Building Committee for the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witnesses construction projects for over 30 years. Marvin Benford who headed up the projects said ?Bill was always on time and completed his projects in an exemplary way?. Bill also served as a HVAC volunteer at National and International conventions of Jehovah?s Witnesses. In 1984 he took his family to Lima Peru, South America to do volunteer work for the Branch Facility of Jehovah ?s Witnesses. Long time friend Bill Sims said, ?Bill was a faithful Shepherd of Jehovah?s sheep who were sick and in the hospital. For many years he served with the Patient Visitation Group by visiting the ailing one?s of God?s flock who were in the Providence North East Hospital in Columbia?. In 1985, Luis Javier Esquirba, a native Peruvian Missionary who was recalled from his assignment of 9 years in the Andies who also worked on the project in Lima Peru came to Columbia, SC. The following year Luis Javier married Judith Eloise. About 10 years later, his best friend?s sister, Sonia Mersades Tuppia married Dickie Thomasson. On July 6th 2000 their son Jonathan Ben was born and he completes the family at this moment in time. W.B. Thomasson Heating Company, Inc began to formulate from a Foundary on Pendleton Street in1934. W.B. Thomasson, Sr. made grates from coal fired boilers, installed and maintained boilers. In 1950 W.B. Jr. became more actively involved in the company and added Air Conditioning and modern application to services to Schools, Commercial and Industrial communities in the central part of South Carolina. The company is in the process of closing and the Thomasson Family wishes to thank all friends and customers for their support and business. Farewell!
