Obituary of Charlie Burkett

CAYCE—Funeral services for Charlie Burkett, 74, of Cayce, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Timothy C. Phillips. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matthew Boone, Tim Wood, Nicholas Burkett, Charles W. Burkett III, Douglas Rish and Jeff Stanley. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. Burkett, beloved husband of Bernice Poston Burkett, passed away on February 19, 2011. Born in Bristol, TN, he was the son of the late Charlie Raymond Burkett and Blanche O'Neal Burkett. He retired from CITI Group after many years of loyal service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Surviving in addition to his wife, Bernice Poston Burkett of Cayce; daughter, Terri Burkett Wood (Tim) of Chapin; son, Charles W. Burkett II (Sandra) of Wagener; six grandchildren, eldest grandson, Douglas Rish of Andrews AF Base, Maryland, Charles W. Burkett III of Wagener, Nicholas Burkett of Columbia, Lauren Boone and Matthew Boone both of Lexington, NC and Carson Wood of Chapin; sister, Shirley Clark of Bluff City, TN; brothers, Lee Burkett of Port St. Lucie, FL and Wayne Burkett of Marion, VA.
