Obituary of EMMA SHIVER

Funeral services for Emma Lou Burson Shiver, 43, of Columbia, will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Robyn Garrison McMullen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the hour of the service at the church on Wednesday. Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road Columbia, SC 29209 has been entrusted with the arrangements. Emma passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at her home. She was born June 6, 1967 in Akron, OH to Earl and Elizabeth M. Burson. Mrs. Shiver was a graduate of Troup County Technical School in Georgia with a degree in banking. A resident of Columbia since 1990, she was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and had served as a Girl Scout Leader. Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 21 years, David Shiver Jr.; daughter, Ashley; sons, Jonathan and Jacob; her mother, Elizabeth M. Burson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy Shiver Sr. and Gerry Shiver; sisters, Joyce Roddenhouse (husband Jim) and Diane Henderson (husband Elvin); a brother, Earl Burson Jr.; and a cousin, Brenda Jones. She was predeceased by her father, Earl R. Burson Sr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1000 Greenlawn Drive, Columbia, SC 29209.
