James H. Brown EASTOVER—A graveside service for James H. Brown, 86, of Eastover, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. William Kyzer. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this (THURSDAY ) March 3, 2011, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Brown, beloved husband of Betty Jean Turner Brown, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011. Born in Middendorf, SC, he was the son of the late Willie M. Brown and Marie Edwards Brown. He was a longtime resident and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII. He retired from Grillo Garage and Aluminum Company. He loved to play the guitar, sing, gardening, bible study and taught Sunday school at Good Hope Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of 63 years, Betty Turner Brown of Eastover; sons, James H. Brown, Jr. of Spain; Michael D. Brown (Angela) of Cayce and Randy T. Brown of Eastover; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Ann Johnson of Michigan and Mildred Steen of Hartsville; brother, Billy Brown (Sharon) of St. Mary's, GA.
