Obituary of Dan Martin

Grave side funeral services for Dan Arthur Martin, 71 of Columbia, will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park. (Grave site Section Z near McCarter Bench). The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Greenlawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Dan passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at his home. He was born October 2, 1939 in Columbia, SC to Walter E. and Bessie Mae Martin. A resident of Springfield, SC for the past 20 years he will be missed by all his family and dear friends. Surviving to cherish his memory is his brother Fred Martin, sisters Betty Evans and Shirley Matthews. He was predeceased by his parents Walter E. and Bessie Mae Martin, sister Dorothy Moffett, brothers Joe Martin, and Walter E. Martin, Jr. Dan, an artist, was most recognized by his artwork at the South Carolina State Museum and the South Carolina Wild Turkey Federation. Dan also worked at Bruns Monumental as a drafting artist for many years.
