Obituary of June Byrd

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for June Fuller Byrd, 84, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Aebischer and Rev. Ryan Lyles. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies Aid Society and the Augsburg Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church General Fund, 1000 B Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Byrd, widow of Virgil L. Byrd, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011. Born in West Columbia, she was the daughter of the late William E. Fuller and Mary Vernice Metts Fuller. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and was a member of Mt. Tabor WELCA, International Order of the Kings Daughters & Sons, Easley -Sox Circle, Mt. Tabor Ladies Aid Society, Augsburg Sunday School Class and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Youth Advisor, an avid golfer, and a former Springdale Town Council Member. Surviving are her daughters, Lynda B. Mason of West Columbia and Vicki McFarland (Bruce) of Lexington; three grandchildren, Craig McFarland (Jodi), Sally M. Holland (Andy) and Cullen Mason; two great-grandchildren, Will McFarland and Ryan McFarland. She was preceded in death by a brother, W.E. Fuller, Jr. and sister, Winona Turnbaugh.
