Obituary of NORMAN COLLINS

Memorial Services for Norman Blaise Collins II, 63, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Greenlawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Kathwood Baptist Church Children?s Fund, 4900 Trenholm Road Columbia, 29206; The Oliver Gospel Mission PO Box 7791 Columbia, SC 29202; or to Palmetto Baptist Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 7275 Columbia, SC 29201. Mr. Collins passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Born in Chicago, IL on March 25, 1947, he was the son of Mrs. Trudy Collins and the late Norman J. Collins. Mr. Collins was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and served in the US Army with the National Security Agency during the Vietnam War. He was the Controller of Rush?s Restaurants for more than 20 years, and was a long-standing member of Kathwood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Stewardship Chairman and in numerous other capacities. Mr. Collins is survived by his loving mother, Trudy Collins; a sister, Susie Harris (husband Howard) of Sumter; and his nieces and nephew, Alisa Petuck (husband Rich), Jennifer Harris, Katherine Watford (husband Adam), Kathleen Ferrell and Jason Ferrell. He was predeceased by his father; and his beloved wife of 28 years, Barbara Dobson Collins. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all of Norman?s good friends for their loving concern and encouragement, as well as to Norman?s caregiver, Sheila Webb of ?We Care? Caregivers. Also special thanks to Dr. Babcock and the staff of South Carolina Oncology Associates for their care of Norman.
