Obituary of Emily Huckabee

Emily Zeagler Huckabee COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Emily Zeagler Huckabee will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 2491 Emmanuel Church Road, West Columbia, SC on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., with burial in Emmanuel Church Cemetery. Pastor Elford Roof will officiate, assisted by Pastor Russell Peek. Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in West Columbia on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Huckabee died March 27, 2011 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A lifelong resident of South Carolina, she was born in Calhoun County and was the daughter of the late John Corbett and Julia Link Zeagler. Mrs. Huckabee devoted her life to her family, friends and her church. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, and WELCA. She was retired from the South Carolina Tax Commission. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Charles E. Huckabee, Sr.; daughters Charlene Julia Kehl of Irmo, SC, and Amy Irene Cleckler of Gaston, SC; stepsons Charles (Chuck) E. Huckabee, Jr. (Glory), and Gene Clifton Huckabee (Sheryl), both of Hartsville, SC; grandsons Cory Brandon Kehl (Ashleigh) of Irmo, SC, and Matthew Tyler Kehl of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughters Emily Catherine Van de Grift and Erin Olivia Cleckler of Gaston, SC; a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Connie Zeagler, nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt, Elizabeth Link Burrell of Troy, SC; and her favorite canine companions, Sable and Teddy.
