Obituary of Roy Grice

Roy Stanley Grice, 60, of Lexington passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Stan was born October 9, 1950 in Columbia, SC. He was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather and loved by many. Stan was the son of Margaret Hinson Grice and the late Leroy Grice. He is survived by his wife, Pat Branham Grice of Lexington; son, Brian Grice (Kristi) of Lexington, daughter, Regina Grice of Charleston, grandson, Davey Grice of Lexington; brother, Rusty (Debbie) Grice of Eastover and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mr. L. D. Hinson, Sr. of Eastover and paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Noah Grice of Columbia. Stan was a 1970 graduate of Lower Richland High School and retired from Southeastern Freight Lines after 38 years of loyal and faithful service. He was a member of Lower Richland Masonic Lodge 406, Scottish Rites, and Jamil Temple. He was also an active member of the Capital City Classic Chevy Club and the Palmetto Shag Club. Our love and thanks go out to entire nursing staff of Lexington Medical Center, with a very special thank you to critical care nurse Melissa Byars. The family also expresses sincere appreciation to Dr. Tripp Jones, Dr. Terry Norton, Dr. George F. Geils, Jr., Dr. Anne Hutchison, and the staff and Hospice Care of Agape Hospice in Lexington for the excellent care and support provided during his illness. A funeral service celebrating the life of Roy Stanley Grice will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Lee Hook, Robert Madden, Pat McCutcheon, Bob Tathy, Carl Kitchens, Chad Boles, Johnny Walker and Kevin Lee; Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Lee, the Capital City Classic Chevy Club, and Employees of Southeastern Freight Lines.
