Obituary of NANCY DAVIS

Funeral services for Nancy D. Davis, 64, of West Columbia, will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 845 Leesburg Road Columbia, SC 29209. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11am until the hour of the service on Tuesday. Mrs. Davis passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011. She was born July 7, 1946 in Mullins, SC to the late George and Duree Davis. She was a graduate of Dentsville High School. Nancy was retired from Lexington School District Two where she worked with special needs children and as a library assistant. She loved all children and the people with whom she worked. She never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. She was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church of West Columbia. Traveling was one of her joys. Nancy was a true patriot and loved her country and the military that served her country, past and present. She volunteered many hours with the USO and the Naval programs in order to show her support for our men and women in uniform. She would always say, ?You may hate the war but you must love our warriors.? Her greatest loves were her USO volunteer work and the children in her life. Nancy will be missed but not forgotten. No one will ever forget her generosity, her kindness, her sense of humor and her loving ways. She was truly one of a kind. Surviving are her step-son, Billy Davis (Dana) of Jenkinsville, SC; sister, Marie Putnam (Bill) of Columbia; brother, Robert W. Davis of West Columbia; nieces and nephews, Shannon Schram (Al), Stephen Craft, Tiffany Davis and Tanner Davis; several great-nieces and nephews; and numerous friends in the U.S. and England. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Marion Davis.
