Obituary of Doretta Vickery

Doretta "Dee" Vickery WEST COLUMBIA— Doretta "Dee" Vickery, 78, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Born in Gilbert, she was the daughter of the late Julius Wilber Koon and Loretta Price Koon. She was a lifelong area resident and retired from the South Carolina Senate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Surviving Ms. Vickery are her daughter, Donna C. Helms; sons, Louis Helms (Elise) of Irmo and Daniel Vickery of Texas; sisters, Rebecca Eagle of Cayce and Rhoda LaRoque of Charleston; brothers, Donald Koon of Charleston and Steve Koon of Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Christopher Gardner, Lindsey Helms and Beth Helms.
