Obituary of Jack Austin

Jack Jason Austin WEST COLUMBIA:Celebration services for Jack Jason Austin, 29, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Grace Chapel Church, Dixiana, SC, officiated by Rev. Eddie Coakley and Rev. Rusty Rabon. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Dayne Phillips, Anthony Crawford, Howard Dunlap, Kevin Poston, George Tillman and Lee Gleaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Austin and Jeremey Austin. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jack Jason Austin Foundation Fund, 2 Heidi Lane, West Columbia, SC 29172. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Jack Jason died Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of Jack Donald Austin and Connie Wood Austin-Welch, who loved and supported him very much. He attended Grace Christian School and was a 2001 graduate of Airport High School. He was a member of Grace Chapel Church and attended Trinity Baptist Church. Jack was a member of the S.C. and National Ground Water Association and of the Congaree Bluff Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling, and was a loyal gamecock fan. He made many wonderful memories spending time with his family and especially his dog, Lucky. Surviving are his loving parents, mother, Connie Wood Austin-Welch and her husband Frank; father, Jack Donald Austin all of West Columbia; brother, Donald Shay Austin and wife Lisa, sister to Jack Jason of West Columbia; fiancé, Jessica Crawford, the love of his life; nephews, Donald Blake Austin, Donald Jeremey Austin and Stephen Crawford; niece, Sarah Crawford; maternal grandmother, Ruth McGaha Wood of Cayce, paternal grandparents, Jack and Sarah Austin of West Columbia; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeremey Daniel Austin (brother who named Jack Jason); and maternal grandfather, Rev. Carlos Jason Wood.
