Obituary of Ann Gardner

Ann H. Gardner SWANSEA—Funeral services for Ann H. Gardner, 56, of Swansea, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Mr. Guy Sorrell. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Ann's honor to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Mrs. Gardner, beloved wife of Leslie Adrian Gardner, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2011. Born in Fort Meade, MD, she was the daughter of Raymond O'Neal Hallman and Helen Jumper Hallman. She had been a resident of Swansea for the past 20 years. Ann was a 1972 graduate of Airport High School and was a proud member of the Tuesday Girls Group. She retired as former owner and operator of Magic Touch. Ann began riding horses as a small girl and continued with the same passion throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother and enjoyed the role of "grandma". Affectionately known as "Sweet Ann", her gentle spirit and warm heart will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Adrian Gardner of Swansea; daughter, Adrianna Gardner Smith (Adam) of West Columbia; two grandchildren whom she adored, Austin Smith and Grant Smith; sisters, Nancy Blume (Richard) of Lexington, Kathy Elkin (Dave) of Chapin and Cheryl Phillips (Troy) of Eastover; brother, Raymond O.
