Obituary of Henry Browder

Henry Austin Browder WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Henry Austin Browder, 89, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Russell D. Peek and Rev. Elford A. Roof. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Mark Browder, Mark Bordeaux, Wes Browder, Ken Hudson, Chad Browder and Keith Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Post 90. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Memorials may be made in Henry's honor to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2491 Emmanuel Church Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Mr. Browder, beloved husband of Ruth Steele Browder, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Born in Greeleyville, SC, he was the son of the late Gadberry and Emma Browder. He was a lifetime area resident and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he served in many different capacities and also the Lutheran Men. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, and also a member of D.A.V., American Legion Post 90, and Meals on Wheels. Mr. Browder retired from Love Chevrolet after many years of devoted service. Surviving in addition to his wife, Ruth S. Browder of West Columbia; daughter, Sybil Hudson (Jim) of Columbia; sons, Fred Browder (Llewellyn), Rick Browder (Pat) and Wade Browder (Joyce) all of West Columbia; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Weaver of West Columbia.
