Obituary of Rayford Procella

Rayford J. Procella passed away on August 8, 2011 at the home of his step-daughter Mary Jo and her husband Ray Racine in Prosperity, SC. He was born November 22, 1927 in Hemphill, TX to the late Henry Procella and Marcelina Parrie Procella. He graduated from Hemphill High School and served in the US Army until he retired in 1966. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Martha Amos Procella. They owned and operated Marty?s Lunch on Sumter St. until they re-modeled downtown Columbia, SC. He was a cook at Atria for several years. He survived by 4 brothers: Eugene and his wife Euline of Hemphill, TX, Earnest Procella of Orange, TX, Msgr. Paul Procella of New Caney, TX, and Brad Lankford and his wife Donna of Bellville, TX. Also step-grandchildren James Racine and Joey Racine of Prosperity, SC; Darlene and her husband Ron Rabine of Monroe, GA; 4 great grandsons, Mike and Tanya Racine, Nicholas Racine of Prosperity, SC, Ryan and Kira Racine of Newberry, SC, and Joey Racine of Monroe, GA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Thursday, August 11, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation from 7:30 to 9:30 pm Wednesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road Columbia, SC 29209.
