Obituary of William Baskins

A funeral service celebrating the life of William Lawrence Baskins, 64, of Columbia will be held at 12p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Thomas officiating. Military honors and interment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Friday at Greenlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NorthStar Christian Center, 711 Longtown Road, Columbia, SC 29229 in William?s memory. Mr. Baskins departed this earthly life on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Dorn VA Medical Center. William was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late William H. Baskins and Margie Dickerson Baskins. William was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Marine Corps in which he was a Purple Heart Recipient. William attended NorthStar Christian Center. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Henri Etta Washington Baskins; a son, William T. Baskins; cousins, Gerenia Wilson of San Francisco, California and Ingram Mayo of Richmond, Virginia; a host of other loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.
