William "Bill" Carlyle Campbell, Sr.
WEST COLUMBIA: William ''Bill" Carlyle Campbell, Sr., passed away on August 15, 2011. Born in Dillon County, SC, on October 17, 1935, he was a son of the late Daniel Archie Campbell and Minnie Hooks Campbell. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and attended the University of South Carolina. Mr. Campbell owned and operated Campbell's Red & White for 13 years and Campbell's Construction for 25 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John D. Campbell and Robert Campbell, sisters, Margurite C. Arnette and Mary Kate Carter; and a granddaughter, Jessica Ann Campbell.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gerrie Campbell; son, William C. "Carl" Campbell, Jr.; daughter, Christie Ann Hoover; grandchildren, Mitch Hoover, Brandi Campbell, Trey Campbell and Ethan Campbell; also four great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Northside Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Allen and Rev. J.O. Reed. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Campbell's nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pat Lemon Life Group. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
