Obituary of Wilma Funk

Wilma Orvin Funk GASTON: Graveside service for Wilma Orvin Funk, 83, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Cemetery St. Stephens, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Children's Hospital, Dept. 274, P.O. Box 100199, Columbia, SC 29202. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington will be assisting the family. Mrs. Funk, widow of Marion W. Funk, Jr., went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, September 18, 2011. Born in St. Stephens, SC, she was a daughter of the late Steadman Alton Orvin and Daisy Henrietta Wadford Orvin. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaston. Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Spires of Gaston and Martha Funk of Jonesboro, GA; sister, Bessie Clark (George) of Blairsville, VA; brothers, Lester Orvin (Bobbi) of Belton, Willy Orvin (Wilma) of Gray Court and Teddy Orvin (Louise) of Gaston; two grandchildren, Clint Spires of New York, NY and Dustin Pelton of Swansea. Mrs. Funk was preceded in death by eight siblings; a daughter, Henrietta Funk; a son, M. Walker Funk, III, and grandson, Jordan Pelton. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Steve Orvin, nephew and caretaker, as well as Gaston First Baptist for their love and support thru cards, visits and prayers.
