Obituary of Dorothy Miller Kaszkiel

Dorothy Anne Miller Kaszkiel PINE RIDGE—Funeral services for Dorothy Anne Miller Kaszkiel, 89, of Pine Ridge, will be held Monday, October 31, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 416 Denham Avenue, West Columbia, SC with interment in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. Officiating will be Dr. B. Clayton Shumpert and Rev. Francis Thomas. Pallbearers will be Ray Stoudemire, Jim Adams, Carl Brown, Cruz Wheeler JohnMichael Aun and Jonathan Garcia. Friends may registers at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington and at Grace Baptist Church from 2-3 p.m. of which she was a member. Mrs. Kaszkiel went Home to be with her Lord on Friday, October 28, 2011. She was born May, 1922 in NC, the daughter of the late William "Bill" E. Miller and Ruth Edwards Miller. The widow of the late Edward "Eddy" Kaszkiel (first married to the late L.P. Haines). For 35 years she was a licensed Lexington County Foster Parent and active member of both Lexington County and SC Foster Parents Associations, having served many years on the Executive Board of the SC Foster Parents Associations until her sudden illness in June of this year. She had opened her heart and home to more than 100 foster children and was very dedicated to the Associations. They became a great love of her life! Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Don and Lonna Ruth Haines Alford of West Columbia; three grandchildren, Lory Aun (John) of Lexington, Tony Alford (Teri) of West Columbia, Leisha (Sergio Rameriz) of Simpsonville, SC; five great-grandchildren, Tori Alford, Taren Wheeler (Cruz), Aly Garcia (Jonathan), Lonna Marie Aun, JohnMichael Aun; and three great-great grandchildren, Karissa Garcia, Aidan Garcia and Blakely Layne Wheeler.
