Obituary of Lonnie Peppers

Lonnie Edward Peppers was born in Marietta, North Carolina to the late Gerome and Ruth Herrington Peppers on June 4, 1948. As a young man growing up, he was affectionately known as ?man.? He was educated in the in Robeson County Schools in Fairmont, North Carolina. He received his nursing degree from Letterman Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Lonnie served in United States Army for twenty four years where he received numerous awards, accolades, and honors. He served in the Vietnam War. In 1988, he retired from military service, thus continuing his nursing career with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and Richland County Detention Center. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lonnie received Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Marietta, NC where he was a faithful patron. He followership with the Unity Church in Hopkins, SC. Upon graduation from high school, Lonnie moved to New Haven, Conn where he worked briefly in the medical profession before joining the United States Army. In 1983 he was relocated to Columbia, South Carolina by the US Army where he retired from the military. In 1977, Lonnie met his sunshine, Nancy Randolph Peppers. They were married June 30, 1984. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Peppers, and two sisters, Margaret Rawls, and Catherine Belton. Under the aura of indefinable presences, on Monday, November 1, 2011, Lonnie Edward Peppers transcended the streams of time and entered into the ethereal realms of eternal rest. God with His almighty power stepped out on the shores of salvation and said, ?Well done thy good and faithful servant?You have fought a good fight?Rest from your labors employ.? As time moves on into eternity, the unforgettable memories of his deeds shall remain in the hearts of his cherished survivors: a devoted and loving wife, Nancy R. Peppers; three nephews, KaVeen Matthews, Kevyn Grant, Kennith McGriff; two sisters, Betty R. Peppers, Geneva (McAuthur ) Coleman, New Haven, Conn; four brothers-in-law, Charles Belton, New Haven, Conn, Romeo Randolph, Kenneth Randolph, Tom Adams, Hopkins, SC; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Kithcart, Joyce DeVeaux, Jacqulyn Grier, Hopkins, SC; a special neice, Tywanna Kithcart-Floyd; three godsons, Colly D. Flemmings, Chris Ezekiel, Shamar Brooks, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The Funeral Services will be 3:30 pm., Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Trinity Church, 1501 Hallbrook Drive Columbia, SC 29209 with interment at the Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at Greenlawn Funeral Home.
