Obituary of Pamela Walker

WEST COLUMBIA : Services for Harold Coppel, 92, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Eddie Coakley. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Federation Center of the Blind, 119 South Kilbourne Rd., Columbia, SC 29205. The family will be receiving friends at the home of Frank Coppel, 847 Jefferson St., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Coppel, widower of Irene Coppel, died Thursday, February 09, 2012. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Mary Coppel. He served with Medicore from 1940 to 1945 of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe and Hawaii. Mr. Coppel retired in 1993 from the State of Maryland Mental Health and Hygiene. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts and the National Federation of the Blind. Surviving is his only son, Frank Coppel (Shelley); sister, Mollee Kruger of Rockville, MD; grandchildren, Matthew Coppel (Brielle) and Laura Dennis (Malcolm); and great grandson, Asher Coppel.
