Obituary of Bennett Joseph Schiller, Jr.

Born February 7, 1946, Bennett grew up in Savannah, GA, where he married his High School sweetheart, Marie Moore. They began their family having two children, Sonya and Bennett, before moving to Griffin, GA in 1972. They were quickly adopted by their Griffin Family at Pomona Methodist Church. It was there, that Bennett gave his life to the Lord.

Feeling the call to Christian Ministry, Bennett moved his family to Columbia, SC to begin his education at Columbia Bible College. Attending school during the day and working at Olympia Mills in the evening, Bennett completed his Associates Degree in Biblical Education in June of 1978.

While working for Lexington County and SC Parks Recreation and Tourism, Bennett completed his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of South Carolina. After moving his family to Lexington, SC, Bennett joined a newly planted church, First Baptist Church of Lexington, where he served as Deacon and Life Group Volunteer. While serving his beloved church and close friend, Pastor Ralph Schneck, Bennett completed his Master’s Degree from Columbia International University in Theological Studies. Upon retirement from the State, Bennett joined the ministerial staff at First Baptist, where he served as the Life Group Pastor for five years.

Throughout his life, Bennett served the Lord faithfully, loved his wife unconditionally and adored his children and grandchildren. He recently became a great grandfather as well. Bennett did whatever he did with passion and spirit. He was loved by many and for all that knew Bennett were blessed. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Schiller III, and his daughter-in-law, Karoline Schiller.  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Patrick Jarvis, Andrew Jarvis, Jessica Jarvis Copeland (Alex), Christina Jarvis, Jason Schiller (Kimberly), Kristie Schiller, Melanie Schiller,  and Matthew Schiller.  Additionally, he is survived by his 2 great-grandchildren, Weston Roddy and JJ Roddy.
